And now it's time for a shameless plug.
This is not a plug for Colorado tourism, although I would highly recommend a vacation there. Especially if your sweet, generous grandparents take you and your awesome local family and friends show you around. But that's for a later post.
This post is to encourage you to check out the River to Well photo competition -- a truly shameless plug because there is no shame in bringing clean water to people who need it. There is a group of talented, compassionate people in Lawrence (that I get to be a part of) who hosts the competition to raise money for the construction and maintenance of wells in Africa. This is the third year, and it is amazing to see what has come from Ken's idea. Here is a brand new About Us video, featuring the founder himself. He tells the story better than I can.
This year, all the money raised through entry fees, donations and print sales will go toward restoring two non-functioning wells in Mozambique.
Now. If you would like to help, I highly recommend submitting a photo (there are categories for all skill levels), but there are plenty of other ways to contribute. This year, the winning photos will be on display in galleries in Lawrence, Denver and Houston. And prints will be available for purchase. At the very least, take a look at the website to see past winners and information on donating without entering.
And if you need some inspiration, grab a camera and head west. The deadline is September 30!
Thank you for reading. Thank you for helping.
With love.
